In overwhelming response to the recent news of vandalism to Hunter Huss, a special account has been set up to begin accepting donations to help cover costs.

Reportedly, it may take up to $5,000 dollars to make appropriate repairs and fix damages to the school property.

In efforts to assist the school and Gaston County School System, a special fund account is setup to accept your money via PayPal. It would be incredible to know that the community, students, parents and HHHS alumni raised enough funds to “fight back” against these horrible vandals.

In case you have not heard, the GastonGazette.com website has an article in that mentions Hunter Huss has experienced some vandalism over the weekend. Apparently there were some very vulgar and crude language spray painted on the football stadium facilities that were first seen by 6 and 7-year-olds playing Optimist Football.

Volume 3 - 7th Issue - February 1, 2008

Feedback from Classmates
Gail Rogers Hall, Class of 1967

I was looking at the pictures from the ‘65 - ‘69 reunion, trying to figure out who the people were, and recognizing a few. I really enjoyed the tour. I would have liked it better with names to identify the picture subjects, however! I was sitting at the computer with 3 Huss annuals before me trying to find these “old” people in the faces of the young, and vice-versa. It was tough going!! My reason for writing is I noticed on the memory lists that the 1968 list was missing Joel Becton’s name. He may be gone, but he is certainly not forgotten! Frank Becton, who was on quite a lot of the pictures, may have already corrected the mistake. The other brothers, Ray and Ronnie were listed on the 1965 and 1969 lists respectively; don’t want to leave Joel out. The Becton family members were very important to my life….all were friends; Ronnie was one of my very best friends ….I still miss him after all these years. GRH - Class of ‘67

Christmas 2008: This was the 59th Christmas I have celebrated. I cannot remember the first three or four. However, I can remember the ones after that with clarity. The fun of watching my mother Dorothy “Dot” Dedmond McBee make all of the Christmas displays by hand and all of her gifts by her own hand. She would make cardboard houses with cutout windows. She would make a chimney and put shutters on the boxes. She would put lights inside the houses She would put little people and beds in the houses too. She would put fake snow around the base of the houses. She would also put glitter on the houses and paint the top of the house white. She would have me [after I got a little older] or one of my brothers to go cut her down a tree. The tree was always good enough. She never sent us back out to cut another. She made do with the tree we brought. We always put a lot of thought into it. We didn’t have fraisure furs. We would pick one of the green Christmas trees out of the woods behind Winget Circle in South Gastonia. Mom would also make popcorn strings to wrap around the tree. My favorite was her decorations. She would make many of them. They became traditional as she used many of them year after year. My mother wasn’t an artist but she was very artistic. She put a lot of thought and detail into these Christmas scenes. She loved what she was doing. She made Christmas special. She was very talented with her hands. She would knit and chrochet her gifts to family and friends. She loved Christmas. She lived a quiet life. She lived for God. She lived for her children. She lived for her friends. She lived for all her loved ones. She died in 1986. I will never forget Christmas in the McBee house with my mom. I will always be thankful for my Christmas memories. I will always be thankful to God for giving us His Son. [Danny A. McBee, Class of 1966].

Volume 3 - 3rd Issue - October 1, 2007

Summer has passed us by. The leaves began to turn very early because of the lack of rain we had this summer. The changing of the leaves is very significant in the south. It represents the changing of the season. It also represents that football is getting into full swing. The Huskies have started out very slowly this year. Our record is 1 win and 2 losses as of September 8, 2007. We lost our 3rd game of the season to East Burke 42 to 25. The Gaston Gazette said it all with it’s article in the sports section, page 4C entitled “Huskies can’t handle Cavs’ run game”. The East Burke team ran for 452 yards against our Huskies. Our team will do better. Remember our song we always sang? “We are the Huskies. Mighty, Mighty Huskies. Everywhere we go. People want to know. Who we are. So we tell them. We are the Huskies. Mighty, Mighty Huskies.” Look out for the Huskies.
